Memorial Weekend Finale

memorial day image Pictures, Images and Photos

What a weekend.  I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful group of family and friends.  I hope and pray everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.  Today was my birthday and I received such a blessed birthday!!  First we went to a cookout at my dear friend Steven and Shannon's.  They surprised me with a birthday cake and made me tear up.  I didn't realize I was loved by so many people.  When I got home, I had over 100 messages on facebook from friends wishing me a happy birthday.  This evening we went to another cookout at some friends from church's house.  They had a slip-n-slide set up and and the kids had a blast.  Kenleigh fell in the mud, but it didn't bother her any.  I just want to thank everybody for making my birthday and this holiday weekend so wonderful.  God has truly blessed me and my family!!

Music Monday/From the 80's

Photobucket

It is Music Monday again and I am joining Tara over at Keeping Up With The Kelly's.  This weeks theme is From the 80's.  I have to be honest with you, I did not care for much 80's music.  I was born in 1977, 33 years ago today to be exact!!  Happy Birthday to me!!  I really like 70's music better.  But I googled 80's music to see what there was and I did find some songs that I liked from the 80's.  I was crazy about John Bon Jovi!!  I had a poster of him on my wall when I was a teenager as well as Kirk Cameron.  I also like the Eagles.  I am going to share a couple of songs that I like from the 80's.  It seems every song holds meaning to us.  This song reminds me of when my husband and I broke up for a short period of time during our dating years.  It was two weeks but seemed like two years to me!!  Anyways, it seems like I heard this song the entire time we were broke up.  I would just cry every time I heard it.  Although this happened in the 90s, this song is from the 80s.

This is Air Supply Making Love Out of Nothing At All

Here is Bon Jovi Livin' On A Prayer

I will leave you with this last one.  Cindi Lauper's Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

I can't wait to see what everybody else puts for this post since I did grow up in the 80's, big hair and all!!  I hope everybody has a wonderful Memorial Day.  Hop on over to Tara's blog.  Happy Memorial Day and Music Monday!!

Memorial Weekend Part I

Memorial Day Pictures, Images and Photos

I am so blessed this weekend to be surrounded by such wonderful friends and family.  Yesterday was my mother-in-laws birthday and tomorrow is my birthday.  My dad and my aunt lives about 2 hours away and I wanted to see them this weekend but I really didn't want to drive over there, so I invited them over for a cookout and invited my in-laws and my mom.  We had a wonderful day.  My husband and father-in-law took my dad driving around doing the "man thing" because if your guys are anything like my guys, they can't sit still for very long.  My aunt brought me a wonderful cake and ice cream and we had hamburgers, hot dogs and rotel dip, yummy, yummy!!  We have been invited to two more cookouts tomorrow.  So I am really looking forward to those.  I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial weekend.  Don't forget what Memorial Day is all about and those who fought for our freedom.

Here is the spread we had yesterday.  Chips, rotel, and grilled burgers and hot dogs!!

Here is Kaitlyn and Kenleigh with their patriotic t-shirts and me and my mother-in-law!!  The birthday girls.

This is my father-in-law and husband on my in-laws' new golf cart.     This is my cake that my wonderful aunt Pam brought me.  It was a marble cake and it was so good with blue bell homemade vanilla ice cream!!  Unfortunately, I gained 1.5 pounds this last week at Weight Watchers.  I promise I will do better this next week.  Who can pass up all this wonderful food??

Me with my cake.

Awards, Awards, and More Awards!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I am just a little bit of a proud mom, but I must say, I was so, so proud of my daughter when I attended her awards ceremony Friday at school.  I knew she had all A's and I knew she had perfect attendance but I never dreamed she would walk away with all the awards that she walked off with.  She has struggled with Math this year and trying to do homework has been a nightmare, but I am beginning to think that she really knows what she is doing, she is just giving me a hard time about it.  She received highest grade in Math, an award for excellent behavior, highest average in spelling, highest average in reading, a trophy for perfect attendance, highest average in accelerated reading, and 2nd place books read in accelerated reading by reading 61 books!!  Wow!!  Way to go Kaitlyn.  Your daddy and I as well as granny, papaw and Mimi are so, so proud of you.

My pictures didn't turn out just real good. The awards ceremony was in the high school gym. But here is Kaitlyn with her boyfriend Levi after receiving her first metal.

Here is Kaitlyn with her cousin Madison. They both received perfect attendance.
Here is Kaitlyn and her friend Katrina.
Here is Kaitlyn with her homeroom teacher, Mrs. Brandy.

Here is Kaitlyn and some of her classmates with Mrs. Shannon.
Kaitlyn and Mrs. Sheila here reading teacher.

Kaitlyn and her BFF's.  Breanna, Abreanna and Turner.

I am sad that the year is over with because that means she will be older next time she goes to school.  She is growing up way too fast.  I am so proud of you baby girl!!  Keep up the good work.
